Who are we?

The Special Educational Needs and Disability  Service is here to enable children and young people to access a full and appropriate academic, social and emotional curriculum which promotes their life chances.

Providing early/timely intervention based on accurate and early assessment of need.

Building capacity in the children and young people’s workforce by:

  • Quality training and development
  • Raising expectations of staff and pupils

Promoting and developing a flexible continuum of specialist provision.

Improving accountability for the social and academic outcomes of children and young people with additional needs by:

  • Rigorous analysis of data
  • Monitoring and evaluating the use of resources in schools and settings for pupils with SEN/LDD

The achievement and success of the above is dependent on:

  • Working within a multi-disciplinary framework.
  • Close partnership working with parents/carers and children and young people to ensure active and effective participation in decision making.
